Activity 1:

  • SalFoS database containing metadata and analysis
  • Classification of strains according to different levels of virulence

  • A biocontrol agent that will be applied to growing fresh produce plants to control the presence of Salmonella

Activity 3 & 5:

  • Improvements to existing diagnostic assays used by food producers to test fresh produce for the presence of Salmonella
  • Development of a more informative and rapid confirmatory test method for Salmonella

Activity 4:

  • Better bacterial strain subtyping tools developed for use during foodborne outbreak investigations of salmonellosis to more efficiently and rapidly determine the source of contaminated food
