- Improvements to existing diagnostic assays used by food producers to test fresh produce for the presence of Salmonella
- Development of a more informative and rapid confirmatory test method for Salmonella

- Better bacterial strain subtyping tools developed for use during foodborne outbreak investigations of salmonellosis to more efficiently and rapidly determine the source of contaminated food
